New build homes often get quite a bad press. You often hear of a lot of horror stories regarding new houses and the issues they have. It is true, like with any home, new builds do still have issues. Sometimes the issues are an easy fix such as doors not shutting properly or seals round windows need redoing but other times it could be an issue with the pipe work or electrics which may require some areas to be dug back up or walls channelled into to find the problem.
There are many advantages to buying a new build, and if you know they have been constructed by a reputable company, then hopefully you won’t have too many issues with it. Many people like the fact that a new build is a blank canvas. It allows you to put your own stamp on the room and give it your personality and character.
You should look out for deals on new builds as often developers will throw in some sort of incentive such as paying for carpets or covering the cost of the stamp duty. This can make buying a new house a very attractive offer and one that you should consider carefully.
As most new homes are built to be greener and to save energy, you will often find that your energy bills are less with a new home. Even if it only saves you a few pound a month, this quickly adds up over the years.
