Cranes used in the construction industry

Cranes are probably the most commonly used plant when lifting heavy weights on a construction site. There are many different types of crane the one that we are all used to seeing on the skyline are the huge tower cranes that are used in the construction of tower blocks and skyscrapers. Looking at these incredible pieces of engineering people may wonder how they are operated safely and how are they adapted to work in different industries.

One of the most important issues when working on these huge cranes is that it does not topple over so to prevent this happening a concrete pad is constructed beforehand that the base of the crane is bolted to. This is essential to the safe use of the crane and is checked thoroughly before the crane is used to lift a load.

Cranes are fitted with special monitors that ensure that the weight to be lifted is not going to compromise the crane stability and care is taken with the positioning of the load on the jib to enable the crane to lift the maximum weight applicable.

Depending on the type of construction needs, a smaller crane can be hired that is a mobile version for instance using a crane for domestic roof construction, but the same principles will apply to make sure this equipment is used safely.
